Gas Kitchen Stove
The gas kitchen stove was invented around the 1820’s. The antique gas stove was very large and very difficult to use. Many of the first gas stoves had a always on flame. This was used to heat the household water and also to heat the house. The first of the gas kitchen stoves did not become popular until the 1880’s.
This is due to the fact the gas pipe line networks was not in place in the larger cities and therefore available to the common household until then. There was several features that made it a instant hit with a lot of the households. The need to find, purchase and store wood and coal was no longer a problem. Also on the wood burning stoves, the entire gas stove top surface had to be heated. It has been estimated by the 1930’s, the gas kitchen stove outnumbered the wood and coal stoves two to one.
There are several different styles of gas kitchen stoves to choose from. One of the most common is the free standing gas stove. This gas stove can be placed anywhere there is access to a gas line. The built in gas stove is set into the counters with something on each side of the gas stove. Then there is the gas stove top. This unit is set in a counter top. While most of the home units will have four gas burners, there is a wide choice in the different styles and designs of each gas kitchen stove that will allow for a wide variety of burner choices.
Most people that live in the cities will be able to use the natural gas stove. The natural gas is delivered through a network of pipelines. A bill is sent out on a monthly basics sort of like the cable bill. If the home or office is located outside of the city , that place may have to use the propane gas stove. The propane company will deliver a storage tank that will stay on the property. This will have a supply line running to the house from the storage tank. As the propane is used out of the storage tank, the propane company will make a delivery and refill the tank. How often the tank needs to be refilled will of course depend on the consumption of the propane gas and the size of the storage tank. If you need to have the propane storage tank hidden , the tank can be buried. The tank is constructed from heavy steel and painted with paint that helps to prevent corrosion. The top dome that will allow for the refill is the only part of the tank that will be exposed.
