Gas Stove Parts

If you own a gas kitchen stove, you’re probably familiar with just how many gas stove parts there are. They may not seem like it, but they are extremely intricate machines that involve a lot of different delicately designed parts.

There are some parts that seem to never go out and that are deep inside the stove – but those aren’t the ones you need to know much about. The gas stove parts that you need to be well educated on are the ones that go through the most wear and tear. These parts are the ones that are the most important to your daily use of the gas stove, and also the most likely to break during the lifetime of the stove.

Gas-Stove PartsThe most important of the gas stove parts, and also the one that seems to be reported as breaking most often, is the gas stove burner. The burner is the part of the stove that ignites the flame by causing a spark near the gas flow.  The gas pipe portion of the burner rarely breaks, it’s usually the switch that breaks. Since the switch is just as important for starting the flame, a broken one will render your burner useless. These parts can be repaired, but many people prefer just to replace them when they go out.

Another gas stove part that you need to know a lot about of is the filter in the ventilation system. Not all gas stoves have this, as some just move the used air outside rather than filtering it. If your gas stove uses a filter, it’s just as much as a safety issue as a functionality issue – you need to check the filter very often to make sure there is no buildup on it! Excess buildup can lead to fires, or to dangerous fumes getting out inside your home. The few minutes it takes to check your filter each week is definitely worth it.

One last gas stove part that seems to break a little easier than most is the trivets. However, this is only common among the ceramic ones, the metal varieties rarely break. Trivets are probably the easiest problem (and the cheapest) to fix – all you have to do is buy another one of the same style and attach it to your stovetop.  Be familiar with your gas kitchen stove. Read the manual and study the different parts – you’ll be glad you did in the event that something breaks!
