Vent Free Gas Stove
The vent free gas stove is really a vent free gas fireplace. The term stove has crossed lines to refer to the fireplaces. The vent free gas stove is a freestanding fireplace as well. This allows the fireplace to be placed anywhere the gas line is ran to. It does not require the regular wood burning chimney.
The air is pulled into the front of the unit to be used for combustion. After the combustion process that warms the air, this same air is returned to the room. The vent free gas fireplace or stove is very high efficient with a burning efficiency rate of right at 99.9 percent. While some of the major manufactures of the gas heating stove or fireplaces will not produce the vent free designs.
The manufactures that do produce the vent free gas stove cite the stoves are very safe. All of the stoves are equipped with a safety device called the Oxygen Depletion System, commonly called the ODS. This device monitors the oxygen levels in that room and if the level drops, the device will shut down the stove. The manufactures state the vent free gas stove will not only meet but exceed the EPA guidelines. But there are those who disagree with the argument that fresh air should be brought into the room to compensate for the “used” air that is returned to the room by the stove.
These units are designed to operate either off the natural gas or the propane gas. The propane gas stove will be used by the people who live outside of the city and does not have access to the natural gas provided in the larger cities. The propane gas will have to be stored in a large storage tank out side of the home. As the consumer use the propane, propane company will come to your home and refill the tank. The frequency of delivery will depend on the same of the storage tank and how much the consumer uses. The natural gas stove will be used if the home has a natural gas line ran to it. This service is sort of like a cable bill, you will receive a monthly bill with a constant source to the natural gas.
The vent free gas stove or fireplaces will also operate with the mesh fixed screen or a wire draw screen. This is so the air can circulate. The glass doors can not be used. It is also suggested for a safety, not to burn any thing in the room with a vent free gas stove. Objects such as candles, incense or air freshers because they will produce soot with may cause a problem by being drawn into the vent free gas stoves.
